Janmashtami Birthday of Lord Krishna

It was time to celebrate, a time to rejoice and a time to appreciate!

Janmashtami is the birthday of Sri Lord Krishna!

On Friday 10 August at the Gurjar Hindu Union Crawley Temple Appletree Centre festivities began before dawn and continue throughout the day until midnight which is time Krishna took birth to embrace the world with love, protection and spiritual wisdom.

The celebrations included kirtan (ecstatic singing and dancing), theatrical performances, dance, interactive media shows, children’s shows and devouring the most delicious of dishes and delicacies prepared especially for the occasion of Janmashtami.
The Deities were dressed in special outfits; the altar and temple room elaborately decorated with fresh fragrant flowers and vibrant colourful furnishings to mark this special time.

Here at Crawley Sanatan Mandir there really was something for everyone from the young to the elderly. It was an exciting time to arouse the senses in a spiritually charged atmosphere!
